The Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC) provides minimum standards and guidelines that address different aspects of building construction, which include building layout, construction materials, foundations, and safety. The BNBC follows the recommendations of other internationally used codes, which include the American Concrete Institute, the German Institute for Standardization (Deutsches Institut für Normung or DIN), the British Standards Institution (BSI), and the Eurocode: Basis for structural design (EN 1990) all of which are discussed briefly by Hodgson et al.
